Job Description:
The Assistant Store Manager Trainee (ASM-T) at Walgreens is a fast-track developmental role designed to prepare candidates to lead full store operations across both front-end and pharmacy. Under the guidance of the Store Manager, the ASM-T gains hands-on experience and builds leadership capabilities while completing a structured learning plan. Upon successful completion, the candidate is eligible to be placed in a Store Manager role.
Roles and Duties:
- Support the Store Manager in overseeing all store operations including front-end and pharmacy.
- Assist with day-to-day activities such as customer service, merchandising, and team supervision.
- Monitor and coach team performance, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
- Engage with customers to provide outstanding service and resolve issues efficiently.
- Analyze business and performance data, identify trends, and implement improvement strategies.
- Supervise safety, security, inventory control, and loss prevention protocols.
- Participate in business planning, marketing efforts, and community engagement initiatives.
Training:
- Complete a rigorous development program including classroom learning, online courses, and in-store training rotations.
- Shadow the Store Manager to gain experience in operations, HR processes, and leadership techniques.
- Fulfill all assigned learning objectives and receive coaching from Store and District Managers.
- Obtain required pharmacy technician licensure/registration as mandated by state law.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of retail management experience, or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of retail management experience.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and extended hours.
- Open to relocation within the hiring area for Store Manager assignment upon completion of training.
